The Time Meddler

The Doctor, Vicki and new travelling companion - the sceptical Steven Taylor, arrive in the year 1066

But the discovery of a wrist watch on one of the locals and a gramophone in the monastery create a perplexing mystery. The Doctor discovers a plot to alter Earth’s history: A member of his own race, the mischievous Meddling Monk, is planning to help Harold Godwinson win the Battle of Hastings with the aid of atomic bazookas and an unsuspecting Viking horde.

Story background: 1965, written by Dennis Spooner, produced by Verity Lambert. Notable firsts: Another TARDIS, with a working chameleon circuit, reveals the Monk to be from the Doctor’s home planet.
